Eric Nuss

Eric Nuss spent the first fifteen years of his life in Omaha before moving with his family to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he completed high school. He went on to Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a focus on science and athletic coaching. His interest in leadership and organizational growth led him to pursue an MBA at the University of Iowa. This step combined his teaching background with advanced business training, preparing him for a diverse range of career opportunities. Eric began professionally as a middle school teacher in Colorado Springs. Teaching provided him with the opportunity to develop skills in communication, patience, and leadership. While he valued the classroom experience, he transitioned into sales and sales management, where he learned to manage operations and lead teams. During this period, he also coached youth baseball, applying principles of teamwork, discipline, and accountability. His coaching style left a mark on his players and later influenced the consulting methods he used to help professionals build stronger organizations. For more than two decades, Eric has focused on advising and consulting in the dental industry. He has supported practice owners during acquisitions, practice integrations, and times of rapid growth. His guidance has included strategic planning, leadership development, and operational oversight in finance, compliance, and human resources. By establishing scalable systems, he has helped practices remain focused on patient care while strengthening long-term business value. Today, as Strategic Advisor at XpoDental, he continues to assist practices in achieving growth and stability. A central part of his work has been addressing the lack of business leadership training in the dental field. While doctors excel clinically, many lack preparation in building enterprise value, which has led to challenges in ownership transitions and retirement planning. He has helped close this gap by designing tax-efficient exit strategies, creating scalable models, and building systems that protect revenue and retain employees. His message to practice leaders often highlights the importance of moving quickly, learning from mistakes, and taking responsibility. Eric's achievements have earned wide recognition. Eric Nuss was featured in Forbes magazine for creating and scaling Henry Schein's Business Solutions Division, as well as for founding the Dental Business Institute. Dental Economics profiled his leadership in the national rollout of DBI, crediting him with reshaping how dentists prepare for succession and growth. He has authored four textbooks that make up the DBI curriculum and written articles for Dental Economics, Dentistry Today, Inside Dentistry, and Dental Tribune. He has also spoken as a keynote and panelist at conferences, including the Dykema DSO Conference and other national summits. As Founding Director of Henry Schein Business Solutions and DBI, he was recognized for creating programs that continue to impact practices nationwide. Outside of consulting, he has also dedicated time to athletics. At STiKS Baseball Academy, he coached for nearly four years, focusing on fundamentals, teamwork, and discipline. He later coached boys' basketball at Southeast Christian School for almost two years, emphasizing leadership, communication, and values. These roles reflected his dedication to developing people both in sports and beyond. Personal experiences have shaped Eric's perspective. During college, he studied abroad in Tanzania, where exposure to a different culture reshaped his views on faith, materialism, and resourcefulness. His blended family has also been a significant influence, as raising six children has taught him empathy, flexibility, and patience. He now lives in Parker, Colorado, with his wife and their six children. Family life is filled with school, sports, travel, and time spent together, serving as his greatest motivation. With a career rooted in Education, leadership, and service, Eric Nuss continues to guide others toward growth, stability, and lasting success.
