Okay, my name is Mark Ellis, AKA James Axler. Rather than delve into the irrelevancies about working as a refrigeration engineer, journalist, a newspaper columnist and a white-collar copywriter and all the other yadda-yadda of a full-time writing career that began almost 40 years ago, let's get down to the grue. I’m the author of nearly 60 suspense and science-fiction novels as well as being a comics creator and graphic novelist. Under my pen name of James Axler, I created the best-selling OUTLANDERS series, published by Harlequin Enterprises’s Gold Eagle imprint. The series was published for over eighteen consecutive years and was the most successful mass-market paperback original series of the last thirty-plus years. My credentials in the comic book field include critically acclaimed stints on DOC SAVAGE, THE WILD WILD WEST, THE JUSTICE MACHINE, H.P. LOVECRAFT'S CTHULHU, DEATH HAWK and many others. I’ve worked with comic legends such as the late and legendary Jim Mooney, Don Heck, Darryl Banks, Adam Hughes, Jeff Slemons, Pablo Marcos, Dell Barras, Mike Wieringo and Pat Broderick. My wife Melissa (herself a best-selling writer) I co-wrote THE EVERYTHING GUIDE TO WRITING GRAPHIC NOVELS, released in 2008 and still in print by Simon and Schuster. If I say so myself (and I do, I do!), it's a comprehensive volume all about the production of graphic novels/comics, not just the writing. It also features rare and never-before published artwork by Adam Hughes, Jim Mooney, Darryl Banks, Don Heck and many others. For many years, Melissa and I taught writing workshops and moderated writer's groups in New England, the longest-lived of which was Newport Roundtable, which ran from 2004 until 2016. Melissa is a writer/photographer and her 101 WAYS TO FIND A GHOST as well as two editions of THE EVERYTHING GHOST HUNTING BOOK has topped the list of best-selling paranormal books for the last 15 years. Our daughter Deirdre is a potter, painter and professional graphic designer. My most recent books are, KNIGHTWATCH: INVICTUS X (2019) and DEATH HAWK THE COMPLETE SAGA (2019), LAKOTA (2021), KING SOLOMON'S MINES (2021), NOSFERATU: SOVEREIGN OF TERROR (2022) and LAKOTA: SERPENTS OF AZTLAN (2023). In early 2017, Melissa and I moved to rural Ireland.
