Norman Badger

Norman Badger has dedicated more than thirty years of his career to Publix, the employee-owned grocery chain in the United States. His path reflects a commitment to growth and leadership. From his first days in hourly positions to his current role as Senior Vice President of Retail Operations, he has consistently demonstrated dedication to his responsibilities. In this position, he oversees all store operations across the company, with a focus on service standards, performance goals, and employee development. Publix operates more than 1,400 stores across eight southeastern states, with the majority located in Florida, and others in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. He began his career with the company in 1995 as a front-service clerk in Aiken, South Carolina. After working in various hourly positions, he became a store manager in 2007. As a manager, he was responsible for budgets, staff, inventory, and creating a positive experience for customers and employees. In 2014, he was promoted to District Manager, where he oversaw multiple stores and guided managers in achieving consistency and compliance with company policies and procedures. Three years later, in 2017, he became Regional Director, responsible for managing several districts with a focus on long-term planning, operational alignment, and leadership growth. In 2020, Norman Badger, Publix, was promoted to Vice President of Product Business Development for the Bakery and Meat departments. In this role, he expanded product categories, developed supplier relationships, negotiated agreements, and refined merchandising and supply chain strategies. His efforts ensured products aligned with both customer preferences and business objectives. In 2024, he advanced to his current role as Senior Vice President of Retail Operations, where he leads store teams across all regions, maintains operational excellence, and supports the company’s long-term growth. He is grateful for the opportunities he has been provided throughout his career and values the people he works with every day. He was born in Jacksonville, FL, and married his high school sweetheart in 2001. Together, they have a son and have lived in several cities, including Atlanta, Charleston, and Raleigh, before returning to Florida. Family has always been important to him, and they enjoy traveling and creating lasting memories. Sports also play a meaningful role in his life. He and his son are loyal fans of the Steelers and Penn State, attending games each year as part of a tradition that strengthens their bond. In 2023, they traveled to Glendale, Arizona, to see the Kansas City Chiefs play the Eagles, which was a highlight of their experiences together. His son plays JV football in several positions and also enjoys basketball. Watching him compete is a source of pride, and over the years, he has collected keepsakes from their trips that represent special memories.
